Tax Planning

Income Tax Return Preparation

•We endeavor to offer income tax preparation that is affordable while providing additional benefits not available elsewhere.

•By having us prepare your business and/or personal tax returns, you automatically gain access to a Certified Financial Planner for your tax-related questions, rather than having your returns prepared by a person trained only in tax preparing.

•This advantage also means having a professional advisor who is available throughout the whole year, not just during tax season.

•We pride ourselves in helping identify tax-saving strategies to help maximize your earnings while minimizing your taxes.

•There is a saying in which this can best be remembered: "It is not how much you earn, but how much you keep that counts".

Individual Income Tax FAQs

Where is my refund?
A few of the common reasons that a refund has not been issued:

  • The refund is being held because of a prior year liability
  • There is an error on the return that has caused the return to be flagged for review
  • Insufficient time has been allowed for processing the return
  • No return has been received

How do I get another refund check if mine is lost?
You should request a tracer from the State Department of Revenue in writing. Mail your request to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for this office to furnish you the information or a replacement check.

When should I file?
Calendar year – As a rule, file on or before April 15th of the calendar year.

Fiscal year tax periods - File on or before the fifteenth (15th) day of the fourth month following the close of your tax year.

Why do I have to report total income on my non-resident return?
This is reported for purposes of prorating the deductions and exemptions a taxpayer is allowed to use to reduce his Pennsylvania income. Only the Pennsylvania income is taxable, however.

How do I amend my return?
You should file an amended return any time you need to correct your originally filed return. The amended return must be filed within three (3) years from the original due date of the return including extensions.

Do I have to file a Pennsylvania return?
If you are a Pennsylvania resident or have Pennsylvania income and the income exceeds the allowable deductions and exemptions, you are required to file a return.
